It´s good to have friends.

English: painting of two love birds

Sometimes I need a little help from my friends.

Well , what can I say except a big, big thank you to everyone who messaged and emailed with ideas for my next painting……..it´s also great to know that so many of you are reading my blog 🙂

I broke with my usual routine completely this morning and spent a very lovely few hours with a friend, browsing through market stalls and taking café in the Plaza in the sunshine. It almost feels as if the winter is having a day off today, it is actually warm, and we even sat outside for our café, a thing that has not been possible for a few weeks.

Not once did I think of art, or painting, or what I am going to paint next……….and what a very enjoyable morning it was too. I am now feeling soooooo much more relaxed than I was yesterday. So guess what?  I fired up my pc, a few hours later than normal and read through all your great comments about what to paint next, and out of the blue, well, actually by following a suggestion by Jav3d , I have found what I want to paint next.

It is inspired by a photo I found, and I´m feeling really pleased with it, which is always a sure sign that it won´t be long before its painted. It was also very heartwarming to know that all you fellow writers and artists out there understood how frustrating it is to hit a block and be able to go no further. It was comforting, in a strange kind of way, to be reminded that this is all part of the creative process that can neither be rushed nor held back. Inspiration comes when it comes, and there is nothing to be done about that except to understand it, and accept it.

As it is Wednesday, I am going to my craft group this afternoon, so I will start on my new painting either this evening or tomorrow……..this is one of the stages of art that I love the most. When I know what I want to paint, and a nice big empty canvas is on the easel. My other favorite part is just before the painting is finished and I have nothing else to do except to  put the final few strokes of paint here and there. For me the middle part can sometimes be difficult, especially if the painting itself seems to suggest a new direction, or something I have spent ages on simply does not look right at the second viewing…….ah the pleasures of being an artist.

For many reasons, including the fact that I may still change my mind, I am not going to say in advance what the subject of this new painting will be, but it will be up here for all to see, hopefully before the start of the weekend.

So, a big thank you again to you all for your help , inspiration and support……..
