Here it is folks, my new painting. Quite different from the last few I have done. I seem to have lost the urge to paint feelings for the time being, and this is the result.I love the angles and the colours in this work. Hope you enjoy it too.
I have actually started to paint this again on a very much larger canvas, and I will put more objects into the painting too…..I´m interested to see how far a painting can change with just a few minor additions or alterations. I haven´t done this before, so I´m looking forward to seeing how this will turn out; I´m still really into innovating and trying new things at the moment.
This painting is using the colors which I notice I have used a lot lately. Very bright oranges, blues, yellows, reds and greens. Some of them straight from the tube. This is a big change for me, and when I look back at my earlier work, the colours were not nearly so bright, but there was more detail in each painting…….maybe through all this swapping of styles I am slowly coming to the sort of art that is “me”. I am still determined to always paint in different style and with different subjects, but I guess there is something unique in every artist which comes out almost without their permission. Each of us brings something that is uniquely of ourselves to our work. It is certainly an interesting journey, and one that I´m very pleased to be able to travel along.
My enthusiasm for work is still in place, helped today by a wonderful warm sun. As I write this blog and can see the beautiful Málaga mountains through my window, and hear the children playing in the street; it´s just not possible to feel anything but pleasure on a day like today.
This is a photo of my view this morning:
My little camera couldn´t cope with the photo taken directly into the sun, so the colours are distorted a little, There is much more green in the foot hills, they are covered in Olive trees, with the olives almost due to be harvested. Well, when I say my camera couldn´t cope, it probably could if only I knew how to work all of it´s controls……..something else I should spend a little time learning. It’s a Canon with a 5x optical zoom and 16.0 mega pixels for all you photographers out there. If any of you know how to take photos directly into the sun with it, then please let me know in the comments. Meanwhile, enjoy my effort of capturing the sun, even if the scene is too blue.
Today I will either start on a new painting, or continue with my second version of “The Face”. It will be fun to see how similar or different they turn out to be. I will also be making the most of this warm day and taking my dog for an extra long walk through the pine forest. He behaves badly if he is kept in the house too long. He is too young and too energetic to be cooped up, and settles nicely after a good long walk. Luckily for him, walking is one of my favorite things to do, so we will both be having a healthy dose of fresh warm air this afternoon. What a perfect start to the weekend…..
Have a good Saturday everyone,
